Tax Season: The Blog Post I Barely Had Time to Write

I had every intention of writing thoughtful, insightful blog posts on a semi-regular basis when I started my blog in January. I collected topic ideas and created a few outlines in advance. I was ready.

But then tax season happened.

With less than four weeks until April 15, I’m now surviving on decaf tea (note to self: this was a terrible time to give up caffeine) and cloud storage.  My dual monitors are filled with open tax returns and client documents, my email inbox is silently judging me, and I’ve had more conversations with my tax software than with actual humans.

So, instead of a deep dive into some fascinating tax topic, consider this my official “I’m too busy doing taxes to write about taxes” post.

Once the tax filing chaos settles, I’ll be back with useful tips on things like:

  • How long you really need to keep digital and/or paper tax records (spoiler: not forever).

  • The right way to document charitable donations so the IRS doesn’t think you made up a bunch of numbers.

  • What actually happens when you sell your home and what it means for your taxes (it’s not as scary as it sounds).

Until then, if you need me, you know how to reach me.

See you on the other side!

P.S. If I don’t have your tax information yet, you’re definitely going to be extended.
